An OIA request for the unsolicited text sent by Richie Hardcore to PM Jacinda Ardern has been successful.

The text, released to Matthew Hooton, is no smoking gun:

“Myself and my friends and the community wanted to pass on their respects and praise for the decision about Jan Antolik, Karoul Sroubek, he’s made a bunch of really bad choices but he’s a good guy deep down, so thank you to Ian and yourself for giving him another chance.”

Nothing incriminating there.

A second text has also been released. It appears to be from fraudster Alex Swney, who was in prison at the same time as Sroubek:

“U [sic] r too polite to say it but I will – Bridges & hte Nats r being bastards about this Sroubek saga. I want to assist with information I hve included in an email I hve just copied u in on. If I can please advise.”

On the face of it, there is nothing much to either communication, though obviously, the reference to an email in the second text is bound to be followed up.

Richie Hardcore seems to be assuming that the PM had something to do with the Minister’s decision. However, there is no actual evidence to suggest that is correct.

Much ado about nothing, really, though I suppose the right will try and pick the bones out of it anyway.

Frankly, the next time we hear about Sroubek should be as he’s waved goodbye at the airport.

Iain Lees Galloway remains a good, hardworking Minister. He’ll have learned from this episode and his future remains bright.

Jacinda Ardern, of course, will just sail on serenely, charming the world as she does.

And the Nats, as we have come to expect under their current leadership, have failed to land a knockout blow. However, there is an obvious answer to their lack of ability in the Parliamentary ring.

Simon Bridges should simply sign up for some one on one personal training with Karel Sroubek.

Or maybe he could ask Jacinda for Richie Hardcore’s number?

    Wow was that it?

    • Enough is Enough 1.1

      Yes. It is it.

He’s thanking his friend, the PM, for the making a very controversial decision.

      • You’re too modest, enough is enough. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for all you’ve done to help Karel Sroubek stay in the country.

Look, I know you’re a bit wary about your role in the matter being made public, but really, it wouldn’t have happened without your help.

Myself and my friends and the community wanted to pass on their respects and praise for the decision about Jan Antolik, Karoul Sroubek, he’s made a bunch of really bad choices but he’s a good guy deep down, so thank you to Ian, Jacinda and yourself, enough is enough, for giving him another chance.

  2. Naki man 2

So why was he thanking the PM, what part did she play in this?

    • Pete 2.1

He thanked the Prime Minister for being involved in it that’s why. Involved in it because she’s the PM, she’s involved in everything, accountable for everything and responsible for everything. Like John Key – he was congratulated when the All Blacks won the 2011 and 2015 Rugby World Cups. You did send him texts didn’t you?

The State Highway near us I regularly travel down is in poor shape with uneven places and the PM’s responsible for that too. I’m going to send her a text message about it. My name will be all over the news when Hooton and the united scumbags ask under the OIA for every text the PM has ever had and my name comes to their attention.

When they find I’ve also texted her about the other SH nearby to thank her for the improvements to it they can make up a story about a “serial texter.”

      • Bruce 2.1.1

I saw all the comments when she put the petrol prices up, but somehow missed the ones when they tumbled, seems this commenting business is a little one sided, although Im sure it has nothing to do with who pays the piper because then we may believe we are being taken somewhere we may not have otherwise chosen.

    • So why was he thanking the PM, what part did she play in this?

My God, you’re right! If it turns out that NZ prime ministers otherwise never receive correspondence from people offering their opinions on government decisions, this would be highly suspicious!

    • Draco T Bastard 2.3

Good question because the answer is: NONE

But I suppose that it’s entirely possible that he simply doesn’t know that.

  3. Tiger Mountain 3

Did the PM reply to these apparently unsolicited communications? looks like it is end of story then.

p.s. About time the Govt. wised up to the fact that the top echelon of the State Sector are not their friends, they are out to get you! Simon Bridges was coughing up the next trickle of this story early each morning in the media, the info came from somewhere…

Which is not to skate over the many defects of Immigration NZ that need a good cleanup either, but really this Govt.’s ministers are not battle hardened yet–“politics is war waged by other means”–Class War in my view, but given that there are only a couple in the Labour Caucus with glimmerings of a class analysis that would likely not be an accepted view!

    • Pete 3.1

Not battle hardened? The naivety was astounding.

In the first couple of weeks of their time they should have gone into some sort of retreat and been totally immersed in studies of proctology. That is the only training which could have prepared them for the realities of the job.

  4. SaveNZ 4

Can NZ have the $500,000+ for his prison stay back from his 2 million dollar house while paying reparation for his ‘bad choices’… meanwhile the hardship benefits continue to people who actually live and work here paying the taxes for his prison stays.

    • Naki man 4.1

“Can NZ have the $500,000+ for his prison stay back from his 2 million dollar house while paying reparation for his ‘bad choices’”

I live in hope, perhaps under the proceeds of crime act. We could certainly learn a thing or two from the Aussie’s on how to deal with foreign criminal shitbags.

    • His prison expenses are our fault for criminalising recreational drugs in the first place. Stupid decisions come with consequences, suck it up.

      • Naki man 4.2.1

Why don’t you import drugs to Bali and tell them its all their fault for criminalising recreational drugs. Then while you are pissing your pants in front of a firing squad just remember to “suck up” those consequences.

        • Psycho Milt 4.2.1.1

There are a great many unpleasant authoritarian regimes in the world that kill people at the drop of a hat. Why doesn’t it surprise me that you’re a fan of those regimes?

      • SaveNZ 4.2.2

Spoken like a true wokie. Everything is someone else’s fault and everyone else (who they despise) should pay by working hard (which they also despise) for their entitlement to a recreational lifestyle (self entitlement) and the social consequences from that (deaths, rape drugs, addiction, exploitation and medical emergencies) and drug smugglers capitalist ability to exploit others and make money from that (more self entitlement), is completely acceptable to them. The wokie logic is always right! sarcasm.

        • Psycho Milt 4.2.2.1

The view that recreational drug use shouldn’t be criminalised is a libertarian one, not a “woke” one (whatever that is). And yes, the logic of it can be clearly argued, unlike whatever you’re trying to argue in the above comment.

  5. jimmy 5

I do find the comment about ILG a good hard working minister a bit of a joke. After making a decision like that

    • Pete 5.1

I know a few top sports people who make mistakes in the throes of their chosen jobs.

Dismissing them as not being ‘good hard working’ is silly. Saying they are not good and hard working would indeed be a bit of a joke.

      • SaveNZ 5.1.1

Did their mistakes lead to 5 years imprisonment? because that seems more than a ‘mistake’.

The issue is not even about his “mistake” but the NZ offical stupidity that some convicted criminal low level sports person, currently in prison, who seems well connected is again is getting preferential treatment by politicians and immigration when he has already shown to be a burden in every aspect from his past warrants in his home country to his deception on getting to NZ in the first place, to the fights with wife, to in spite of his already chequered record being able to get her residency through the same business. The fact that she is dating a Natz shows the political leanings that are being imported into NZ in massive numbers through the above dodgy means. White colour criminals and drugs importers who are hanging out with politicians and their groupies are coming to NZ to commit frauds and illegal activity here for their own profit.

Now convicted, he is expecting the NZ to continue to fund his lifestyle of criminal activity and hanging out with political jocks . Mum looks keen to join in, on the NZ residency wicket too, no doubt.

And ILS first instinct is to say ‘yes’, to giving special residency to this scum ball. To his credit ILSe has at least had the decency to change his opinion when looking at the context and the lies and history, a bit more thoroughly!

        • Pete 5.1.1.1

My comment was directly to the jimmy comment about the minister not being hard working, not about Sroubek.

Tell us how you know that ILG’s ‘first instinct is (sic) to say ‘yes’, to giving special residency to this scum ball.’

I think you made that up, you guessed, you speculated. I do not think you know what his first instinct was. I can understand you not wanting bullshit around Sroubek and his mother but arguing about it with bullshit?

    • On what do you base your implied allegation that Lees-Galloway is not hard-working?

NB: your response should reference relativities to previous ministers’ work habits, given that it’s physically impossible for a minister to read the entirety of every single document that’s prepared for them.

    • Rapunzel 5.3

Do you have an opinion on the fact that details were missing from the report?
      And
Oh st*ff it’s time to say that it is entirely possible, just as details of an issue with the person and his ex-wife came to light in a very convenient and National Party connected way, that the co-alition govt NZers elected has people in influential places whose loyalty still lies elsewhere.
That won’t hold water with you I know but I wonder what others think.
Likewise if Bridges is the best the National Party can offer up as leader what sort of state are the rest of them in and exactly where do their loyalties really lie?
For one they have no vision, not for NZ anyway as the main priority, nine years is evidence of that.

    • Draco T Bastard 5.4

I don’t. He did, after all, go back and review the material afterwards and change his mind.

A non-hardworking minister would simply have defended his original decision and told us we were all wrong.

Now, where have I seen that before?

  6. Chris T 6

I have a feeling the idiotic Sroubek decision has fair way to go yet.

    • Ross 6.1

You don’t like the decision to deport him?

      • Chris T 6.1.1

I still have doubts he will be deported

        • SaveNZ 6.1.1.1

NZ officials are so pathetic they can’t even do their job and deport clear cut convicted criminals.

The immigrations lawyers are in the clover, making sure that the ‘rich’ white colour criminals are coming here a plenty so their is plenty of further revenue and litigation in the pipeline!

Also no surprises that people importing in drugs that can be used as the ‘white collar’ rape drugs are being supported by lawyers who have already been exposed for their rape and harassment culture at the big law firms. They believe they are above the law, and it is certainly looking like they are right!

Talk about furthering your own profitability and looking after your own self interest!

No wonder NZ has 25% more lawyers per capita than the UK, while we are completely dysfunctional in practical terms from giving away free assets like water to corporations to choosing not to prosecute the people who were responsible for the company that killed 29 NZ’ers.

    • Rapunzel 6.2

The JLR return and the Maggie Barry bullying and abuse of staff are the things with the mileage now. It’s possible that she didn’t release the texts in case it looked like she was out to embarrass the National Party given the second texts view of their behaviour.

    • OnceWasTim 6.3

While you’re hoping for I L-G to be “thrown under the bus”, it’s far more likely that it’d one or two ‘officials’ he was silly to have had the utmost faith in, and that Soimon and the Wodehouse are likely to get their noses rubbed in it.

Actually no, now I come to think about it, those ‘officials’ have already apologised (for the umpteenth time)

  7. Ross 7

Hi I’d like to thank Simple Simon for remaining National’s leader. Anyone have his number so I can thank him personally?

    • Rapunzel 7.1

If you get it can you get a comment from him about the second text, this afternoon is one of the few times in a while they have stopped yapping about it. Maybe because their motto is “perception is everything” incl someone few people know that much of like Sweny but it’s a text and it says some pretty damning things that’s all that matters to them.

    • ianmac 7.2

Yes Ross. I see what you mean. I will text Simon thanking him for exposing Jamie-Lee Ross.

“Thank you Simon for the great job you did in making a tiny Jamie Bump become a mountain and thus showing us the standard of your judgement. When you become PM we will remember your wise actions. Thanks again.”

(Gee I hope my text doesn’t hit the headlines.)

    • Ankerrawshark 7.3

      Lol Ross

  8. OnceWasTim 8

And I’ll bet the Swny email contains nothing more than he’s already said publicly.

    • OnceWasTim 8.1

By the way, I L-G is a bloody good Munster and there are already signs that this incident and others have given him a wake-up to a lot of the bullshit that’s gone down over the past decade or so. We’ll have to wait and see I guess but I suspect this incident has prompted him to put his bullshit detector in for a service and oil change.

In some ways, I was hoping Sroubek was going to be allowed to stay. Sure as shit that’d have served as a constant reminder to the anomalies with, and resources required to implement industrialised immigration, and labour and education standards based solely on economic imperatives.
Maybe it’d have given Morrisey B the opportunity to write a thriller too: Thiel and Sroubek

    • Draco T Bastard 8.2

      The Sweeny?

  9. Oh, dear. I know it’s beer time, Friday, but surely Simon can find a couple of mates to back him up on his munted Sroubek tweet. The replies are awesomely brutal:

    https://twitter.com/simonjbridges/status/1086072539653132289

And what’s with tagging Richie Hardcore? Manners matter, Simon.

    • OnceWasTim 9.1

Soimon would be better off pursuing a career as a drummer boi. He could start a band doing covers of Siouxsie and the Banshees. Parmjeet and the Bakshies – backup vocals by the Cat’s Chorus with lead singer Wodehouse

    • Draco T Bastard 9.2

The right only think manners apply to those they identify with, those they consider born to rule.

  10. Sacha 10

What did the Nats think these txts would contain, anyway?

    • Robert Guyton 10.1

Nothing. They knew there was nothing.

      • Draco T Bastard 10.1.1

Exactly. They were just using them as a bat that helps the ignorant to increase ire.

        • Psycho Milt 10.1.1.1

Speaking of which, a great deal of ire on Kiwiblog’s General Debate this evening along the lines of this being the… something… that, er… something… Fucked if I can make sense of it.

          • mickysavage 10.1.1.1.1

Haha I see you have had some fun …

          • lprent 10.1.1.1.2

Kiwiblog – it has always been the home of the not particularly coherent.

And those banned from robust debate because they are kind of too stupid to engage in doing it constructively.

Incidentally, it is about time to release the lists of the damned to examine the argument that as angry morons get older that they become more capable of arguing. Personally I think it is a fallacy… But it is kind of amusing to watch the sewer prove it wrong periodically.

          • Anne 10.1.1.1.3

The first time I’ve read the comments on KB. What low-brow trash! They can’t spell. Hopeless grammar. The vindictive comments against Jacinda Ardern are downright sick – same sort of personal stuff they flung at Helen Clark.

Anything half way decent gets voted down and disappears. Poor old Morrisey, he’s lucky if anything survives but I bet he gets a lot of fun out of it – as do you. 😀

            • Pete 10.1.1.1.3.1

Some of the regular ranters there want ‘The State’ to go into some homes and unilaterally take the kids out because the parents aren’t bringing the kids up properly.

Meanwhile those crass, ignorant, malevolent, poisonous souls are perfect for bringing up kids. If someone suggested ‘The State’ go into their homes and unilaterally take the kids out because of the hideous attitudes presiding there they’d been on their ‘Nazi state’ high horses.

Funny though how they don’t seem to comment about the fact they’d been to the authorities to offer to foster kids and raise them ‘properly.’

              • Gabby

Don’t worry pety, your kids are safe as long as they’re not running over people in stolen cars.

  11. Draco T Bastard 11

I’ve met several ‘good guys’ who’ve made bad lots of bad decisions.

That’s actually not the issue. I’m fully in support of forgiveness and rehabilitation.

The issue is if he’ll continue making such bad decisions and the evidence in the public domain (He went back to his native country under an assumed name) is that he will.

  12. Darien Fenton 12

Geez so now it’s the crime of the century for someone to send a text thanking our PM after a decision was made she had no part in and didn’t respond to. Now where are those Todd Barclay texts?

    • veutoviper 12.1

      LOLOL.

Sinon Bridges certainly seemed to think so for weeks there when he -very s l o w ly and s e r i o u s l y – kept asking the PM questions about that text!

His tweet on the release –

Cynical Friday afternoon dumps from Govt on @RichieHardcore text & Kiwibuild boss resignation. More to come on both. Govt should be much more forthright earlier”

      The replies are priceless!

So much of that financial bailout was to creatures that took a risk factor on their investment but faced no loss because of their govt creature john key, who handed over taxpayers money, via english and joyce.
New Zealand ‘shitbag’ thieving creatures are far more dangerous to Kiwis’ health because we trust them to act honestly. I should know better when I come across idiot comments like yours.
