   The media are simply extensions of their owners agenda’s, independance and intelligence now exists in the Blog space more then any mainstream outlet…..blogshpere may be more opinionated but you know where it’s coming from whereas the msm try to con you that’s it’s informing you and unbiased which’s BS.

   We don’t have a media in NZ anymore just mediums of delivering their owners message dressed up as ‘news’…..TVNZ and the Herald may as well be extensions of the PM’s PR dep’t and you only have to see how easily they get sucked in to see the experience and intelligence is long gone.

   Well said tc . Morning breakfast is classic example we have Dipper AKA Pippa and the failed National Party candidate Mr Bean he even says Keys lines for him ” so that would be Labours fault then John”. Espiner Mr lets re write history because what I tell you will be the opposite from what’s actually occurred and is on record.Its got so bad I can hardly believe it some times.

   Vox-Pops have been grossly misleading since the year dot,[ five decades ago now anyway], despite some conscientious reporters asking numerous people the question and then selecting a few ‘faces’ to reflect those views. But then likewise one can crit polls for the same reason, except the ‘street polls’ are a much smaller sample despite responsible reporters efforts.

   Perhaps I have read more into the cartoon or I’m dumb. Isn’t it underlining the very point that the media is doing just that thing about reporting ignorance. Strewth! No wonder cartoonists are so clever. Its like trying to explain why a joke is funny.

   Beatson on stratos kicks ass without even trying as the pollys just aren’t used to actually being questioned anymore.
   The way he nailed blinglish on the GST rise not being evaluated in terms of impact on low/middle income was journalism 101.

   Gotta hand it to the Nat’s though….control the msm and you control the swinging voters which they’re doing nicely. Reagan would be proud.

   As for turning on their masters…..too small a pool and bills need to be paid by very few employers so the sellout continues unabated.

   They wouldn’t show this tripe if people didn’t watch it, so blame the public. The vast majority of viewers are complete morons, so we have television for morons.

   It’s the same for bestselling books and records and elections. Like Frank Zappa said, the most common substance in the universe is stupidity. That unfortunately extends to the blogosphere, where nobody will blame the voters for poor government, viewers for horrible television, and listeners for the vile nonsense spewed over the radio.

   Blame the public. It’s their fault.

     Are you sure that that’s happening though? From what I’ve seen, more and more people are turning away from the old news sources.

     Although they do carry some of the blame you can’t blame them completely. Most people don’t really expect to be lied to especially by the MSM.

    It’s not so much blame as despair as the msm are culpable for getting this mob elected and probably re-elected by not fulfilling their mandate….to inform impartially.

    Everybody has to earn a living but our joke of a PM wouldn’t survived 18months in front of that Oz media pack who demand answers and have intellect and memories they bring to bear in their work, if he had’ve made it as far as Blindtrustgate that surely would’ve killed him off with an effective 4th Estate……but hey this NZild.

    They should keep the bastards honest, all of them not just a select few….we used to have that here not so long ago. Flights leave daily kids.

    Of course, the tossers at Hot Topic are moaning that it’s not enough, we need to commit economic suicide sooner.

    Given that the ETS will not reduce emissions below current levels (according to the govt website) and it will cost the taxpayer billions, I would have though this was a story worth reporting, so congratulations to the Herald on this one\\

    By the way, to commenter “Macro” at HT, the “denier” farmers might actually have a bit more connection with the environment than a front bottom who spends his day rambling on wanktard blogs like HT.

      I have meet and work for plenty of farmers and to be honest they aren’t the most intelligent people in the world, miserable yes, intelligent no.

    And as a freelance reporter, Hastings would be considered a bigger risk to be given unfettered access, compared with a beat reporter, who would not risk burning bridges by publishing many of McChrystal’s remarks.
