Christmas truce 1914Weekend social is for non political chat. What’s on for the weekend, gigs, film or book reviews, sports, or whatever.

No politics, no aggro, why can’t we all just get along?

I’m in mourning for bored. Loved the descriptions of his outdoor activity – especially the chooks.

      Loved bored 🙁

      anyway,
Chekov-“Lady With Lapdog and Other Stories”

James McNeish-“MacKenzie” (who cares what the critics spout, write something yourself)

(forgive me, not proselytising, just sharing, love to you all)

    • What happened? This doesn’t sound good….

And since I just don’t have the love for the resident feathered serpents that ‘Bored’ apparently had for his chooks I’ll be making no attempt to fill that gap. Sorry.

Maybe Bored will return to the roost just for weekend social?

I had thought he had said something about trout fishing up in Tongariro around the time of the beginning of October…………..

I have ducks and ducklings, but it’s not the same. And our bird friends mean different things to different people.

    Recent earworms: http://www.youtube.com/user/msmrsounds

Chilli’s (6 varieties, need moar serrano seeds) and tomato’s now sown and in the greenhouse, though the weather looks poo for the next week so might not have them pop up asap. Just need to find the motivation (and the cash, xcom’s out next week + need dental work…) to do the rest of the vege patch.

And I need more containers for plants 😛

Also finished Doctorow and Stross’s The Rapture of the Nerds, not quite as good as I was expecting (thought it would be a mash up of Accelerando, Halting State, with more humour, still mocks the singularity fanatics nicely though) , but worth reading. And it’s available for free under a creative commons license 😉

Need to get my hands on Iain M Bank’s new culture novel as well.
