    Scratch a ‘freedumb lovin’ libertarian….

In an interview with BusinessDesk, Seymour said he hoped the Government would make progress on an ambitious student data collection programme to track the effectiveness of the Government’s various student interventions — such as school lunches.

“Where we should be going as a Government, and I hope where we’ll have the capability to go, is to say every student has a national student number [and] every time we do an intervention we tag them and say ‘well, if we look at students that had the following XYZ intervention, where are they now compared with other similar students who may not have?’”

          Yes…

Just seeding the idea of some rational/humane policy around cocaine..

Which is currently a wasted resource..because of out-dated prohibition panic…

Btw..do you see any holes in my arguments for using it as a tool to help p addicts..and as a salve for the elderly/depressed etc..?

          • Robert Guyton 2.1.1.1.1

            Nope. Your argument is sound.

Thanks for your support on yesterday's Daily Review Robert. I can't reply on that thread.

Yes, I did not get the wording of the quote strictly correct – didn't have time due to an appointment. I have to agree with you. There is a lot of "stroppery" on this site at the moment.

Thank you to the moderator for apparently letting me out of moderation. I have learnt a lesson. Don't rush off an epistle when you don't have time to do it properly.

More roads for the heavy trucks to use …

“These are eye-wateringly expensive, big, projects, at a time where a lot of things are being cut,” she said.

"We don't have all the details, but, the way the funding has been proposed in the [Government Policy Statement], it's likely that they will be just carbon trucks that are being accommodated," she said.

"We're spending a lot of money and we're not actually providing infrastructure for everybody."

She was worried big roading projects would create accessibility issues for residents.

"You've got Onehunga, which is quite a big residential area, families and kids, and instead you're going to bring in more cars and more trucks," she said.

"That's what happens when you build roads, it just brings more vehicles, so that makes the whole area less appealing, less safe, and less accessible."

Those already burdened by the decision to allow heavier trucks on the road – and lead to the need for a large pothole fund – are happy though.

Chairperson of the Papakura Local Board, Brent Catchpole, described the Mill Road project as overdue.

"It's an obvious choice for when the main motorway, State Highway One, clogs up," he said.

"It will take a lot of traffic and heavy trucks away from there as well, so this is absolutely gold for Papakura and the people in the south."

Allen Gibbs is going to find out.

Well this Government has very thin skin.

The red neck haka has riled Winston.

Then professor Kidman commenting on callous government attitudes to children re boot camps, finds herself in hot water.

So all comments critical of this regime will be treated as subversive? Freedom of expression. What freedom?

Also Seymore wanting to give all school children a number. What? Should they also have a yellow badge for each 'intervention' and that idea could be used for bulk funding once more. well well.

Is that where we are heading?

Be afraid, your very job depends on us and you toeing the line!!!

    China anyone?

Will never watch 2 broke girls on teevee ever again after one of the characters asked how old the baby should be till they could let her and her whatever have sex. This is tantamount to wounding the childs psyche and making sure the child whatever other trauma they suffer never having a sense of wonder for the rest of their lives. bloody disgusting.

This really is so depressing. Young people from wealthy families are already corrupted by dishonest parents who think it's fine, if not virtuous, to rip off the taxpayer simply because you can. You'd be stupid not to, right?

No doubt these are the same parents crying hard about dole-bludging beneficiaries and Maori getting too many university spots.

These rich kids have to declare and sign and so if fraud is found, they and they scumbag parents are in deep shit. But fraud will never be found and the weakest in society will bear the burden, as usual.

Suddenly realised she's gone too far with her crusade.

Obviously the targeting of the kid and his family is why name suppression is important, but some just won’t have it…
