After I watched a snippet of Collins' press conference today, on TV1 news, I realised with Brownlee's questions, he is making a play for coalition conspiracy partner in NZ Public Party.

Edit; removed link as Gerry’s performance wasn’t in it.

    NRT thinks this:

What's National's first move under lockdown? Call for elections to be delayed:

National leader Judith Collins is demanding Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern delay the September election after the discovery of Covid-19 community transmission cases in Auckland. A clearly frustrated Collins on Wednesday afternoon said she was directly asking Ardern to shift the election to November, or instead call back MPs to Parliament so they can vote on pushing polling day into 2021.

Obviously, Collins wants all the time she can get to have Brownlee spread conspiracy theories. But its also quite revealing that her instinctive reaction is to try and abrogate our democracy for her own advantage. The National Party is showing us exactly who they are: instinctive authoritarians who think only of themselves, who will happily try and sabotage a critical public health response if they think it helps them (see also: Michelle Boag). People should remember that at the ballot box.

    So, yeah, nah!

Law Professor on the nuts and bolts of delaying the NZ general election: https://theconversation.com/by-delaying-the-dissolution-of-parliament-jacinda-ardern-buys-time-on-the-election-date-but-only-a-little-144351

While the Electoral Commission has planned for voting to go ahead under level 2 restrictions, the prospect of having our largest city under lockdown at election time goes far beyond that. It would make it very difficult, if not impossible, for something like a quarter of the electorate to vote.

Unsurprisingly, therefore, there are calls for rethinking the September 19 election date.

Well Labour has made a classic political blunder–unnecessary appeasement–by not dissolving Parliament as scheduled. It has created space for Nashnull to do what they do best.

Isn't there the possibility that they might need legislation to facilitate some measures, though?

It might be more than eye-brow raising but an important eye-opener for the world if the virus has occurred due to surface transmission – the coolstore involved has facilities in Melbourne & the US among others in Aus, US & NZ. If nothing it will deflate the border/mask blame-game that many are trying to embark on

Was wondering the same thing. If the virus is transported via frozen goods then I suspect that imports of same will have to stop.

    The Herald being responsible again.

Brian Tamaki calling for street protests.

The New Zealand Herald – super spreader of conspiracy theories.

    • tc 6.2

Granny promotes someone who wants to further endanger people by gathering for a tinfoil hat protest during a global pandemic.

A tawdry rag that mirrors the national party it shills for….whatever gets the clicks. This is a binary issue and granny’s on the wrong side here giving Tamaki and his cult any oxygen.

Auckland now at Level 2 !!!!

  8. ianmac 8

Auckland moves to Level 2 (Footnote at base of the screen on TV1)

But cannot find any other reference for it. Oh Hell.

  9. I Feel Love 9

Farrar adding to the 'postal ballots are untrustworthy' bullshit, as if a party polling at 50+% would need to 'steal' the election…they've gone all out Trump, maybe BTK jr their new campaign manager.

This disinformatzia campaign was prototyped on Hillary. No surprise that National would stoop to such tricks, but they do deserve dancing cossacks for it.

    Unreal Judith

Holding up the the coming Election may suit Ms Collins who is low in votes, but her demand to hold up the Election for year after unknown year seems a bit silly.

Judirh is ever a little bit dramatic.

    • Drowsy M. Kram 12.1

A "little bit dramatic", or erratic? Not the leadership we need right now (or ever), IMHO.
