The current rise of populism challenges the way we think about people’s relationship to the economy. We seem to be entering an era of populism, in which leadership in a democracy is based on preferences of the population which do not seem entirely rational nor serving their longer interests. ...
The server will be getting hardware changes this evening starting at 10pm NZDT.
The site will be off line for some hours.
It isn't available yet, but on TV1 news tonight Jack Tane reported from Washington DC:
The Supreme Court today decreed that mail-in voting papers that hadn't arrived by Election day will NOT be counted. Apparently that means all mail-in votes will have to be posted by tomorrow at the latest – 8 days before the election.
Mail in votes always favour the Democrats!
We knew there would be filthy and fraudulent deeds by the Republicans to grab pwer at any cost.
This was the clip I saw but it doesn't seem to include Tane's statement about the mail-in votes. Bit weird.

As far as I know, that edict only applies to Wisconsin. Not long ago they considered more or less the same issue for Pennsylvania and decided the opposite way. But the Pennsylvania Repugs are going to have another crack at it since Handmaid Barrett is now on the court.

If you enjoy watching the dancing on a pinhead to try to justify issuing contradictory opinions, go ahead and read all about it. Let me know if you make sense of it.
I think the first comment in response to the third link sums up the state of America very well:
“Now they just aren't trying to suppress "them" voters, but all voters.
Because there are more decent people than them. But Trump told them they can do whatever they want, he's got their back. There is no "both sides" nor is there any hiding of the attack on your rights and freedoms, but they voted for Trump to hurt people.
He’s killed over 200,000 Americans, crashed an economy, turned his back on our friends and allies and still there are people with Trump flags.
Horrible.
Deplorable? Doesn't even scratch the surface.
America or Trump. Simple."
I don't recall who said it, but it went like this: you've got to give Trump credit – he's managed to introduce to America the 1918 Flu pandemic, the 1929 Market Crash and the 1968 Race Riots all in one term.
That takes some doing.
Another term of Trump is unthinkable.
If there is any justice then this and the Barrett confirmation should give a last minute money boost to the Dems – and they can spend it on getting out the vote in places like Texas.
30% of the Texas early vote has been by the infrequent voter class and total votes to date are now pretty much ahead of the total 2016 vote.

So, it's the dolphins, seals and birds invading the fishing boat's space and not the other way round. What kind of a dork is he? Unbelievable.
I have linked the comments below from Bryan Gould where he points out that both individuals and businesses have made sacrifices both personal and financial to remove covid. And that this might all be put at risk by the amount of covid imported.
In short it's time for the business community and CEO's to point out strongly to the fishing industry CEO's that they don't have an entitlement to risk everyone else's financial downside for their own profits. Time for the team CEO to act.

The business (and education) community will not be castigating the fishing industry for doing what they themselves expect to be doing in short order
i see the next lot of fishers waiting to come are on hold.
time to train up kiwis, give them good pay and excellent conditions and any other foreign labour as well. Times up. Game over
