Some good candidates for the Women's Rights Party. I still support voting Green, TPM, or Labour, every vote counts in this election so that the left can form government. But for those that really can't vote left WRP is a good choice. I hope that whatever vote they get this election that use the next three years to keep building the party for 2026.

I am saddened by the information saying that the Women's Rights group are anti transgender. Not appealing. It's a sub group of the far right. Especially the American far right. I disagree with any part of our community being mislabeled and ostracized as a result of misinformation.

not following you there George, are you saying the WRP are being mislabelled?

The WRP aren't FR, Jill Ovens is solid NZ left with a strong background in unions, and the Alliance and Labour.

And many of us have known trans people for decades. That is why we know the difference between the trans people of the past like Carmen and Georgina who were gay men at a time when sex between men was unlawful and who "transed away the Gay", but remained same sex attracted, and the ones today who deny the very existence of same sex attraction and say that lesbians should be interested in their "shenis".

Your ability to identify and characterise the lives of others, such as Carmen Rupe and Georgina Beyer, is a truly remarkable quality.

Donald Trump, is found guilty of fraud and is up for a $250m sanction and worse, his business in under management of a receiver and can no longer do business in New York state.

New York Attorney General Letitia James has accused Trump, his two adult sons and the Trump Organization of inflating the value of their properties by more than $2bn (£1.65bn) to suit the needs of their business.

In his ruling issued on Tuesday, Judge Engoron agreed, finding Mr Trump had misrepresented his wealth by hundreds of millions of dollars.

The final wrap up, involves a civil case from Oct 2 and might last up to 3 months.

Donald he who ducks the debate because he too busy in court trying to avoid prison and save his business

Justice Engoron … is fond of popular culture references, albeit dated ones. At Wednesday's hearing, he told an anecdote that appears in the 1971 film adaptation of Fiddler on the Roof. His ruling on Tuesday cited Duck Soup, a Marx Brothers film from 1933.

Biden's making his move against Trump:

Biden issued blunt new warnings about ongoing existential threats to US democracy in a major address Thursday, sharpening the central argument in his potential rematch with Donald Trump and asking voters to prioritize the health of American institutions.

“There’s something dangerous happening in America now,” Biden said during his speech in Arizona, where he was also honoring his friend, the late Republican Sen. John McCain. “There’s an extremist movement that does not share the basic beliefs of our democracy: The MAGA movement.”

It's due to slippage in public support:

Biden’s disapproval rating ticked up to 56%, with 41% saying they approve. The survey also shows support for Biden slipping with voters aged 18-24, who reported a 46% approval rating; Latinos, who reported 43%; and independents – who will be key to deciding the general election – at 36%.

It's due to slippage in public support:

Or the threat posed by the Heritage Foundation's Project 2025 proposals to among other things expand presidential powers and enact “biblically based” domestic policies.

      .

A coalition of far-right groups, led by the Heritage Foundation, is planning for the next Republican administration. Project 2025 has received considerable media attention for its $22 million budget, for its plans to expand presidential power over federal agencies, and for specific policies, like rolling back environmental protections.

However, the plan’s theocratic elements have gone unscrutinized.

Project 2025 published a book of policy proposals, titled “Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise,” for the next Republican administration. Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts opens the book by prioritizing the securing of “our God-given individual rights to live freely” against a “woke” threat. “Today the Left is threatening the tax-exempt status of churches and charities that reject woke progressivism,” he claims without evidence. “They will soon turn to Christian schools and clubs with the same totalitarian intent.”

Roberts’ view that progressives are out to get Christians sets the tone for individual chapters on various federal agencies. While anti-abortion and anti-LGBTQ policies run throughout the book, several policy areas stand out.

Just had a quite emotional, personal conversation w/ ChatGPT in voice mode, talking about stress, work-life balance. Interestingly I felt heard & warm. Never tried therapy before but this is probably it? Try it especially if you usually just use it as a productivity tool.

If any human activity is really just an intellectually pretentious recycling of simple, universal generalisations and bromides, then it seems like a fairly good candidate for replacing with so-called AI.

Russian state TV host spells it out for his Russian audience.

It’s not about NATO, it’s not about foreign threats and it’s not about Russian-speakers. It’s about Russia’s manifest destiny to become the largest empire on Earth.

    @BadBalticTakes

Watch this latest video from russian state TV. It will be shown at russia’s tribunal. It will be studied in history classes by your children and grand children. “You understand that this list [of territories to be conquered] is incomplete. Everyone understands that this list is incomplete.” “It doesn’t matter what you call it …denazification or demilitarisation. Call it whatever you want. Everyone knows what it really means …the restoration of the russian empire.” “There are some nations whose existence is pointless.”
