     I already knew it was shallow, he just emphasises how shallow. I couldn’t take any more than 1m45s and that included his congratulations to the Assistant Speaker.

     This first week of the new parliament has been a real opener in showing what an unhealthy mix of vindictiveness, nastiness, deceitfulness, shallowness and stupidity many of the National MPs are, I knew they were bad but didn’t realise how deep the rotteness runs.

   I heard this nitwit on the radio in Hamilton a few weeks back. He was trying to say that no one overseas was talking about housing problems so neither should we. He thought the election campaign should instead have focused more on the situation in North Korea.

   I know that National Party MPs live in a bubble but his lack of awareness that much of the western world is actually facing a housing crisis for the exact same reasons that we are was impressive.

   But even if he was right about that I still couldn’t figure how that would mean we shouldn’t talk about our housing crisis although his theory that it was something drummed by the liberal media might have something to do with.

   My only explanation is that like most National Party MPs he is purely a student of power – which means you have to find out what people further up the food chain think about an issue before you know what you should think.

   After hearing the interview the other say I don’t think I could handle a second dose so I might pass on the video thanks 🙂

     You don’t have to be clever or informed to be a National MP. You just have to stand behind Bill English during televised interviews nodding authoritatively and looking smug. Simon Bridges remains the acknowledged master of sycophantic head-nodding. He should really be giving lectures. Bennett should go back to shrieking at the television and dribbling on himself.

   Ask any Labour MP who sat on the Transport & Industrial relations select committee about this character David Bennett as he was chairman during the last several electiions national gained control as government.

   My sources advise that David Bennett was a nasty type of an abusive character with nazi style tendances.

   To what we heard he is a very nasty individual..

     Although I’ve never met him, this Bennett fellow is in my family tree. One of the outer branches, obviously: it’s a very large family.

     I remarked to another relative that he’s so bloody ugly, he has no business at all being in there, given that, on the whole, we’re a fairly pulchritudinous lot.

     And now the scuttlebutt is that he’s nasty as well? Definitely no business being in there!

     The bio information about him in our book suggests that he’s quite smart; that being so, it’s a mystery to me how he could get mixed up with the Natz.

     Ah well, as my late mother was given to saying: god gave you your relatives, thank god you can choose your friends…..

    Well, I think this government is a socialist Government. Since when did socialism become a dirty word? I’d add that the last National Government was also socialist, if you define socialism as government intervention for the purpose of helping the less well off (except National was more inclined to help its rich mates). Indeed John Key called Working for Families “communism by stealth”, but he didn’t abolish it. We don’t have a laissez faire economy, so socialism it is and has been for quite some time.

      Some people – usually those on the Right – like to say that Labour is communist as if communism and socialism are one and the same. I suspect that when Bennett used “socialism” he really meant “communism” given that National is also socialist. The two terms have quite different meanings.

    lmao. the reason National Standards are being scrapped is because they do stuff all to lift achievement rates. Pretty much they were a bad idea and have continued to be a bad idea. Bad ideas should be scrapped. Without the NS teachers might actually have more time to focus on what actually lifts achievement standards, child centred teaching and learning.
