Petrobras, the company which was supposedly going to safely drill in deep water off our pristine East Coast beaches, is now in deep water itself fouling up the entire Brazilian economy. Petrobras scandal
And in a familiar link crony capitalism link, the Brazilian President was Petrobras President from 2003 to 2010.
The writer of that article should learn to write Brazilian names correctly and interview more than just politicians from the Brazilian equivalent of the NAct Party, the PSDB. Petrobras has been mired in corruption ever since it was founded. To say that the only ex-President involved was Fernando Collor is totally wrong. They all have been up to their necks in it since the generals, and it was probably worse in the era of Fernando Henrique Cardoso. Since his party wants to privatise Petrobras, having already privatised a heap of mining companies for the “price of a banana”, he conveniently gets left out of the stories.
I had expected better from the Guardian.
Just in passing. While reading a summary of an author Pete Dexter who used to be a columnist in the USA. This:

I’m lost as to how to respond to what Roast Busters represents
The Henderon Police have been dysfunctional for years and the Takapuna based district commanders have never been able to get on top of it.
The national police force has been dysfunctional in protecting women and in giving them the security they need and deserrve. The failure to implement the Bazley report is disgraceful.

So much for how you treat the least of these. Automatic system installed a year ago. To discourage homeless people from taking shelter outside the church doors. And if there’s water, it’s an easy next step to adding a few electric jolts to speed the process up.
