    Hoax news or true???

“Bridges and Parliament’s Speaker Trevor Mallard both received an anonymous text message last week from a person claiming to be responsible for leaking the information to Newshub, sources told RNZ.

The text author reportedly said they had leaked the expenses because they disagreed with Bridges’ leadership style, describing him as “arrogant”, and wanted him to be held to account for his spending of taxpayers’ money….

RNZ said it had not seen the text, which is believed to have detailed a number of conversations and pieces of information from National caucus meetings over a period of weeks in an attempt to prove the author was a National MP.”

From President Trump’s interview yesterday at the White House with Fox and Friends, came this lovely quote:

“If I ever got impeached, I think the market would crash”
“I think everybody would be very poor. Because without this thinking,” he continued, pointing a finger at his head, “you would see, you would see numbers that you wouldn’t believe in reverse.”

I love the smell of fear from evil politicians.

    POPCORN DAY

It has to be a Popcorn Day – even a vegan Popcorn Day if you put a vegan spread in it rather than butter.

Between Australian Liberals and our very own Bridges, and Trump, we really all need a bit of a funny break, so here is one.

    https://www.radionz.co.nz/news/world/364819/texan-becomes-viral-sensation-amid-australian-political-turmoil

Heh. That one juror that held out on convicting Manafort on those bank fraud charges really didn’t do him any favours. It just opened the door wider for state authorities to go after him too, in which case a Drumpf pardon wouldn’t help. That’s because it was declared a mistrial on those 10 charges, so state-federal double-jeopardy rules won’t apply.

The twitter.com.lewis link is amazing and horrifying. I don’t think any animal’s good name should be besmirched by connecting it with Brexit.

Does that twitter feed have an adult rating? There are big words in it I don’t understand, and don’t think I want to understand. I want to run away to Mummy but can’t find the door. Help.

ownership. Someone declares they own land, a resource, even people have been owned. What I don’t get is why once you own something you can on seal it without any risk, it’s this that creates legal dumping of waste etc. Everyone who touches, uses a product has a ownership right over the cleanup.

Well we’ll never know but I’m guessing Jacinda didn’t want all National getting all the publicity so she pulled this out last thing on a Friday

          • McFlock 13.1.1.1.1

Yeah, ain’t it nice that the bad news thrown out late friday afternoon is simply holding a stupid minister to account, rather than burying a flurry of reports of how badly the entire government is doing.

            Almost like responsible government.

Last weekend I copped a fair bit of abuse for encouraging people to stop drinking.
Maybe this might persuade some of you.

No healthy level of alcohol consumption, says major study
Governments should consider advising people to abstain entirely, say authors.

Even the occasional drink is harmful to health, according to the largest and most detailed research carried out on the effects of alcohol, which suggests governments should think of advising people to abstain completely.
The uncompromising message comes from the authors of the Global Burden of Diseases study, a rolling project based at the University of Washington, in Seattle, which produces the most comprehensive data on the causes of illness and death in the world.
Alcohol, says their report published in the Lancet medical journal, led to 2.8 million deaths in 2016. It was the leading risk factor for premature mortality and disability in the 15 to 49 age group, accounting for 20% of deaths.
Current alcohol drinking habits pose “dire ramifications for future population health in the absence of policy action today”, says the paper. “Alcohol use contributes to health loss from many causes and exacts its toll across the lifespan, particularly among men.”
Most national guidelines suggest there are health benefits to one or two glasses of wine or beer a day, they say. “Our results show that the safest level of drinking is none.”
The study was carried out by researchers at the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), who investigated levels of alcohol consumption and health effects in 195 countries between 1990 to 2016. They used data from 694 studies to work out how common drinking was and from 592 studies including 28 million people worldwide to work out the health risks.

It’s an interesting study, but I’m not too worried. In NZ we have a much lower risk of tuberculosisthan Russia, so that would skew the odds. It’s a bit like BMI, really. And that’s if the confidence intervals come out right, anyway.

Finally got some internetabilty to check the news not covered by Natrad and there that was.

      Beggars bleeding belief.

Similar thing happened up in the FFN with a couple of the water consent applicants. They were found sucking water from the Te Aupouri aquifer before the consent was approved. They got the wet bus ticket treatment and business goes on…
