Easy to work out English/Joyce strategy – negatively attach labour. Very little on what National will deliver but $1k pa for an average worker or $7/week for a pensioner.
When asked what his vision is all we got was an attach on Labour regarding taxation, i thought a vision is what YOU have – very lacking in substance.
IMO Jacinda has to make sure that she doesn’t fight against everything Bill comments on. Pick her battles.
Also that Bill will not make eye contact with Jacinda during any of the debates, yet Jacinda directs and looks towards Bill. I am sure that there are some out there that are more academically qualified to analysis the meaning of not paying attention to the other debater.
Seems its a minimizing / dominance tactic,- whilst looking to the camera as if addressing the nation. Alpha wolves do it to subordinates,… alternately ignoring them or outright attacking them. Bill has demonstrated both behaviors.
Which , in the case of Bill , – shows a particular calculated coldness , and lack of willingness to admit error. He is fearful.
Whereas Jacinda Adern keeps her eye on her prey. And just like a lioness, she shows no fear whatsoever.
Shes got this.
And she knows it.

Ardern’s team should have been much harder on agreed debate protocols.

The Ardern campaign team need to protect their client far better. She is the highest posdible risk to the Labour Party if led to a mudfight like that again.
think she’s demonstrated she can cope with anything they throw at her…and as someone noted she is a quick study and improves every time.
Ad, .. one magnificent attribute of Adern is she is also a lateral thinker who thinks fast on her feet. She is a visionary , and engages people with not just cold ‘ logic’ , but with the heart. Every great leader has not minimized the powerful effect of speaking from the heart. Every last one of them either good or bad had that capacity. Yes, a good and popular leader needs to be ‘minded’ by their inner circle in order not to burn out ,… but also that good leader cannot /should not be muzzled or stifled excessively .
As opposed to Bill who favours a more rigid , structured framework.
And that , like it was in 2002, will be his exact same downfall.
Because he cannot adjust rapidly enough to ‘feel with his heart’ the changing mood of the nation.
Bill was early on a very Shouty Billy. He as usual avoided looking at Jacinda. Shouting over the other speaker is a bad look but I suppose Bill is copying Joyce.
And giving up after a while being shouty Bill and talking over Jacinda. Some one must have told him shouting and hectoring over Jacinda was a bad look. Perhaps his wife?
55% Jacinda 45% Bill -5% for moderators who let Bill have two thirds of the speaking time. Mind you it counted against Bill.
