Correct re PLO. But Hamas opposes the PLO and does not support two-states.
Thank you. Of course it was. Calling Anglicanism "the one true faith" would, I'd have thought, made that pretty clear.
In New Zealand, both Labour and National supported FPP in the early 1990s. Duopolies don’t want new entrants. So no surprise UK Labour is taking this position. Both it and the Conservatives are over-represented in the House of Commons, and that’s how they ...
Beyond the announcement they were working together, I'm betting they didn't.
I don't think Labour even needs to say it would never work with Destiny, or vice versa, which is why National doesn't need to take Destiny seriously either. If Destiny ever had the balance of power, they'd just have to passively allow National to govern. ...
Great post. Lots to think about here.
I think it is important to remember that Slater did not in fact hack The Standard while Nicky Hager's criminal friends did in fact hack him. [lprent: You pretentious fuckwit. The test in the law about victims is the amount of harm. It cost me more than a ...
Yep. I think we can safely say that after 8 years in power National has to take responsibility for whatever laws are on the books at the current time in a way they weren't in their first term.
Many times.
The raid on the media offices and Hager's home were both appalling. Do you really want a repeat of that?

It doesn't even necessarily come here at all.
Here's the page where ICIJ says it won't publicly release the documents (or even hand them over privately to law enforcement): https://www.icij.org/offshore/search-offshore-leaks-data ICIJ alone will decide what the documents mean and who gets to see which...
He and ICIJ say they will keep the actual documents private.
Sorry, I can't find any of the source documents supporting today's stories on the internet. Do you know where they are?
Have you seen the documents Simon? Can you point me to them on Internet. Cheers.
I wonder if she is capable of reflecting on the fact Lorde is going to the world's most glamorous celebrity parties in New York while she is running a failing gossip site for a failing company out of a small office in a suburb of Auckland?
No one can. That's the point.
I don't hate him at all. He is a perfectly pleasant person. Just a very poor politician (which is actually an attractive trait!)
I think that's right. Under Little, Labour will head down to 20%. But Greens and NZ First are both good for 15%. And 20% + 15% + 15% = 50%. Although Winston would insist on being the prime minister, at least for a time, with the majority of ministers and ...
Here is the answer to your question. It is not a secret. http://nzinitiative.org.nz/About+Us/Membership/Our_members.html
That's how it gets spun, but the watercare invoices are based on volume so there is a sense that you pay for the water you use not for the pipes.
exactly right
Correct. But I'm not talking about turning it into anything. People already pay for the water that is piped to their houses (at least in Auckland).
"Water for ordinary living purposes is free." No it's not - not even now. Everyone in Auckland pays for the water they use every month. No one has died of thirst yet.
There should be a price on water and everyone should pay it whether cleaning their teeth, irrigating their farm or exporting it to China - so that the water goes to whoever has the highest and best use for it. We already pay to clean our teeth (in Auckland...
I think Gould has misinterpreted events here. Obviously there will be something dodgy about this deal - after all, McCully is involved. But it is pretty clear Little's real objective was to fire a warning shot against Gracinda. I think he has shown he is ...
New Zealand does not extradite people unless the alleged crime is also a crime in NZ (that's one of the issues in the Dotcom case) and only if there is a guarantee the death penalty will not be sought. So the hypotheticals you raise are not relevant.
Presumably it would also be wrong for him to publish his next book - which he says is "one of the most important projects that I could imagine in my life" - after the next election too. So unless it is published this year, we can safely assume it will be ...
Hager has already said he's working on another book, which sounds like it will be the biggest yet. See http://thespinoff.co.nz/03-11-2015/politics-a-kick-back-against-government-intolerance-an-interview-with-nicky-hager/
The Supreme Court would never uphold such an order. Hager has nothing to fear legally from seeking comment from those his stories are about. He doesn't seek comment because that might undermine the tale he is spinning.
