Let’s play a game.
In the middle of a global pandemic involving an airborne virus where you are the POTUS would you:
- A – hold a large social gathering with no social distancing for a future Supreme Court nominee, or
- B – hold off until things improve.
The next day is the day of the first Presidential debate. Are you:
- A – Relaxed that your family who were in attendance were not wearing masks, or
- B – Concerned they ignored clear instructions.
The day after one of your staff, someone you spend a lot of time with, becomes unwell with Covid type symptoms and is isolated. Do you:
- A – Keep going out into the public, or
- B – go into isolation.
Then on Thursday this staff member tests positive for Covid. Do you;
- A – attend a major fundraising event, or
- B – Cancel it and apologise. The donors’ health is more important.
You and your wife then test positive for Covid. Do you:
- A – decline to tell everyone you have been in close contact with over the past few days including Joe Biden and his team, or
- B – tell everyone. They need to know.
You have a fever, your oxygen saturation levels dip and you are given supplemental oxygen as well as a polyclonal antibody cocktail and remdesivir. Do you get your doctors to tell the public:
- A – that you are great, or
- B – that you are in serious trouble.
You are given the steroid dexamethasone and a known side effect is that it can make you feel euphoric. Do you:
- A – tell the world you feel wonderful and are making plans to leave hospital, or
- B – listen to medical advice and stay put.
You have a number of supporters outside the hospital you are staying in and you are getting bored. Do you:
- A – Break quarantine by getting your security guards to risk infection and drive you in an SUV by your supporters in a vehicle, or
- B – Stay in isolation for the good of everyone.
You are thinking of going back to the White House four days after the onset of Covid symptoms. Persons with more severe Covid infections can be infectious for up to 20 days. Do you:
- A – Leave and make a point of taking your mask off in front of cameras when you reach the White House.
- B – stay put after all it is too dangerous.
A reporter who regularly attends White House press conferences tests positive for Covid even after wearing a mask and it transpires that she was in close proximity with two staffers who had previously tested positive for Covid. Do you:
- A – Keep them going. Being seem to be tough is more important than people’s health, or
- B – shut them down. It is the only way to be sure.
You score one point for every B option you chose and no points for every option A you choose. Add them up to see what sort of person you are. If you score:
- 7 – 10. You are someone who respects the science at least most of the time and can usually be trusted with decisions relating to Covid.
- 4 – 6. You are very marginal and your decision making appears to be significantly compromised.
- 1 – 3. Your decision making is clearly flawed and for the good of the country it would be best if you did not make decisions relating to Covid.
- 0 – what sort of psychopath are you?
