When I was much younger I had a few mates who were into surfing, they were regulars (I believe the colloquial term is “locals”) at Wellingtons Lyall Bay.
Eventually I decided to give it a crack, the ‘thrill’ did not last long, apart from the water being unbelievably cold I soon realised that I was sharing that particular part of the ocean with human waste and sanitary napkins, the sight of a sanitary napkin stuck to the end of my borrowed surfboard was the final nail in the coffin of my fledgling surfing career.
I believe that part of the ocean is now a lot cleaner thanks to the work of various pressure groups and successive city councils, apparently one can even take seafood from the Lyall Bay/Moa point stretch of the coast line, I will just have to take their word for it, anybody who grew up in Wellington during the 70’s and 80’s would still look at seafood gathered from that area with a deep degree of suspicion.

Haven’t been to the movies in so long as they’re 99 percent shit these days, but this is bound to be good for a few LOLZ, if not as brilliant as Shaun of the Dead. Speaking of zombies, I shall also be reading World War Z, An Oral History of the Zombie War. Recommended for those geeks who wish to be prepared for the inevitable zombie apocalypse 🙂

Lots of planning, teamwork, scavenging in the post-apocalyptic wastelands, and fending off the zombie hordes that attack at midnight (9am real world time) by building a town with 40 strangers.

The SO arrived home from work this evening with fresh figs from a workmates tree so we’ll be having them for pud, brown sugared, a gentle bake and dished up smothered with whipped cream.
I must finish a write-up (waaayyyy late) and prepare for the first of the summer visitors 🙂
