Simon Bridges is a cyborg instilled to gradually but firmly establish negative ideas and attitudes in the minds of voters about the coalition govt. There is no other way to describe his robotic repetitive “bark bark bark bark” behaviour. If he is a real human being then he needs help. And so does that creature (?) sitting beside him in the house.

    Good stuff Winston.

Helping people without taking political sides.

New Zealand contributes $500K humanitarian funding to the Venezuela crisis

‘New Zealand will provide $500,000 in humanitarian assistance to the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) to provide shelter and access to basic services for refugees and migrants.

The funding is in addition to the $145,000 New Zealand provided to support healthcare facilities, equipment and medical care for Venezuelans in Colombia and Brazil last year through the World Health Organization and the UN International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF).’

The public housing waitlist has rocketed past 10,000 as more people wait longer for public housing.

At the end of 2018 fully 10,712 eligible households were waiting for state or social housing – 73 per cent more than a year ago, and over three times the number waiting at the end of 2015.

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/110709977/public-housing-waitlist-cracks-10000-with-more-families-waiting-for-longer-for-housing

Going to get a lot worse.

Twyford must have nightmares about Judith Collins, she just smashes him every time.

    • Cinny 3.1

      That’s awful for those waiting.

      From the same article…..

“This is despite the Government building 1658 new public housing places over the last year, the largest increase in a decade.”

      • BM 3.1.1

What did he think was going to happen if the government jumped up and down on Landlords with jackboots?

Shortage of rentals? OMG who would have thought?

As for those left-wing dimbulbs who said it doesn’t matter if landlords sell up, it’s a zero-sum game, idiots you’ve made a bad situation so much worse.

        • Cinny 3.1.1.1

The prior national governments approach to housing is to blame.

Current government is building more state houses. At least they are doing something. Rome wasn’t built in a day.

How dare the govt prioritise the people over some landlords?

The thing is everyone knows national created the crisis, so any suggestions by them is usually met with gales of laughter.

I’m sure the thousands of people kicked out of their rentals and who are now currently homeless are laughing their arses off.

            • tc 3.1.1.1.1.1

How many state houses did national flog knowing we had a housing crises ?

Try a factual answer for once rather than some diversionary trying to be funny bs. It’s lame dude.

            • marty mars 3.1.1.1.1.2

They’re certainly laughing at the sad useless gnats – imagine if that rabble were in power lol what a joke. Remember their laughing and saying ‘there is no housing crisis ha ha ‘ the gnats have condemned good kiwis to living in substandard conditions by their heartless inaction. No one forgets that buddy.

            • Cinny 3.1.1.1.1.3

‘I’m sure the thousands of people kicked out of their rentals and who are now currently homeless are laughing their arses off.’

They will be if national suggests they can fix the housing crisis and helps the people over investors.

Straight up, I’ve heard some of them already.

        • Sabine 3.1.1.2

yep, lets regulate air bnb as a business with regulations, health and safety inspections, licensing, and taxes levied and lets see how many properties will go back on the regular rental market, as that in many areas of the country is the issue, or are you saying that the Landlords of Queenstown are hard done by 🙂

Landlords (as the name says) don’t sell a hovel, the money is in the land not the wooden shack or the gjgardner Mcmansion.

the only dimb bulb around here is you, not because you can’t think, but because you refuse to think.

          • Charlie 3.1.1.2.1

Time we got rid of scumbag land – lords, what an outdated concept from feudal times. BM is probably one or dreams of being one, bet his sheets stand up all on their own.

          • BM 3.1.1.2.2

Don’t get me wrong if you’re a landlord there’s obligations and responsibilities you have to meet.
I could never rent a place to someone that was damp and cold, if I wouldn’t live in it, then I wouldn’t expect anyone else to.

The problem here is Twyford because he’s more interested in political optics than finding workable solutions, he’s completely fucked up the private rental market and made the NZ housing problem so much worse.

He should just fuck off before he does any more damage, egotistical amateur.

            • tc 3.1.1.2.2.1

We voted out the govt who did damage across many sectors in 2017, do try and keep up.

            • Pat 3.1.1.2.2.2

big bill for the rentals eh BM?…bugger

            • Sabine 3.1.1.2.2.3

Mate, for all his faults, Twyford is at least trying and that is more than can be said of every single current member of the No Mates Party.

You want to scream incompetence and stupidity, go yell at the Party that had nine years to do something and did shit all. Nick Smith insulation standard of 1976. Fuck him. Paula Benefit there is no housing crisis? Feed a pie or a snickers to that mean vile sorry excuse for a human being. Bill English, housing welfare fraud. John Fucking Key? the man who ‘resigned’ giving the country a one week notice, make him a fucking Sir so he can pretend to have some class. Nicki Kaye make a breakfast for 3.50 while you live in a car. Amy Adams, irrigation is good especially for my farms.

In the meantime working people and their children sleeping / living in vans, near public toilets, in public parks because as Kiwis they can’t afford to rent nor to buy. And why?

Because the No Mates Party, every single member of them, that you support, did nothing. Fucking Nothing. Nada, Zilch, Nix, Niente. The only thing they could do was crow about ‘building permits issued’ and keep state houses run down, refusing to fix them, milk the housing corp of dividends for a fake surplus rather then reinvesting money into the housing stock and selling state houses and pensioners flats to the next developers mate.

So no, Mate, you and your ilk, don’t get to decide who does a good job or not, when you have a record of nine years, fucking peoples lives up beyond believe. When you have had nine years to do something, and your guys could not do a single thing.

So your obsession with twyford is what makes you dumb. Again, not because you are not intelligent, but because you don’t want to think, you refuse to think and above all you put Party before country. For fucking shame man.

              • Ad

One would at least like to know the measures by which Housing New Zealand is being held accountable for homelessness …

… unless it’s one of those “wellbeing” measures this government just can’t get around to.

Seriously Budget 2019 is locked and 2 months away, and the PM still can’t say how it’s going to work.

Pretty convenient to not be able to be held to account.

                • Sabine

holding someone accountable is not the issue.
the issue is that after nine years of fuck all you don’t get to scream resign to someone who actually did/does something.

                  is it enough? no
will it be enough at the end of the first term? no
but it is better then doing nothing and that is all the No mates Party does. Nothing. That and sad sausage sizzlers to make up for lack of testicular fortitude.

And above all it is eons better then the constant lying by the no mates party. Cause that is what they did when it came to the housing crisis, they lied, every single time Ms. Benefit stood there and said there is no housing crisis she lied, every time nick smith pointed to a utility box and said this is crown land and we’re gonna build on it, he lied, when the double dipper double dipped and said i did not know, he lied _ the guy never did anything else his whole live but live of the government tit, he knew.

So i wait for what labour does, and when they start doing nothing, when they spend millions on sheep for the Saudi Arabian desert rather then building houses/flats and the likes, when they milk the housing corp of dividends to pretend to have a surplus cause they don’t have the tax income after a tax cut for the haves, until then, like BM go cry up another tree. cause your party, your men in suits and their enablers had nine years to do something good for this country and they did nothing.

                  • Ad

Being slightly better than National is not enough.

Maybe for you, but not for me.

They got elected on more than that and it’s time they showed they can do what they promised.

                    • Sabine

slightly better then National is all we need.

and is it not sad, that no one actually has to try real hard to be better then them, they are that bad.

they got elected on bringing about change, and they have started doing that.
my friend who is on a benefit, can finally go to her doctor and afford food for the week in the same week!!!!. Why? Because her doctors visits are now cheaper then they were under National. For someone who has survived thyroid cancer and needs regular medication, that is a lot of money saved.
She is also a tenant who moves every two years on average – or when the house goes on the market for sale, or when the rent goes up to a point where she can’t afford it anymore. She now has no more one week fee to give to real estate people.

These little changes may mean nothing to do you, but they make her life much easier and cheaper.

oh and the heating allowance….my mother in law was happy about that too. 🙂

and these are just a few of the many little things that happened since the new government came about, plus new houses. Yei! Win! Well done!

So its not that they are just a bit better then the No Mates Party, they are better.

But feel free to send a letter to the NO Mates Party telling them how they too could be just that bit better then Labour, and who knows maybe they will. And then – with two parties taht are trying real hard to be good – maybe the things in this country that need changing would change. But then the current lot would never do anything for beneficiaries not named Paula, John and Bill.

              • alwyn

You certainly don’t let the facts get in the way of your ranting do you Sabine.

A few minor little facts for you.
“As at October 31 there are 776 state houses and 124 emergency houses under construction in Auckland and 464 state houses and nine emergency houses contracted with construction yet to start.”.

That was in Auckland. It doesn’t include what they were doing in the rest of the country.
                https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/property/99852104/housing-new-zealand-has-nearly-4000-auckland-state-homes-worth-more-than-1m

The October 31 they refer to was in 2017. Labour had officially been the Government for a whole week but I don’t think even you would try and claim that they accomplished this.
That was the National Government’s doing wasn’t it? And what do you claim?
“Because the No Mates Party, every single member of them, that you support, did nothing. Fucking Nothing. Nada, Zilch, Nix, Niente.”
What a load of tripe you utter.

                • McFlock

Yeah, those are the lying fucks – announce they’re building new state homes in june, yet the total state housing stock has dropped by another 200 dwellings when september comes around. Like pretty much every other HNZ quarterly report when they were in office.

Little more than a street hustle – follow the cup, but the pea is never under the one you pick and you always lose.

                • Sabine

same for you as for BM, dumb, not because you are not intelligent, but dumb because you refuse to think. And you lie. Blantatly, just like the rest of the NO Mates Party.

” The number of Housing New Zealand dwellings built each year in Auckland has increased from 37 in the 2013 financial year to 182 in the 2017 financial year.

so in 4 years the NO Mates Party build 145 houses. 🙂

Meanwhile demolition of Housing New Zealand dwellings increased from 69 in the 2013 financial year to 369 in the 2017 financial year.

it demolished 300, which leaves a net loss of 155. 🙂

As at October 31 there are 776 state houses and 124 emergency houses under construction in Auckland and 464 state houses and nine emergency houses contracted with construction yet to start.”

last but least, here is the Ponytail Puller telling local government that they could borrow money to build infrastructure for the housing needed for their population living in cars. Oh and pay it back in 10 years. Cause government is not gonna do anything. Not under the NO Mates Party.
                  https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/industries/81703095/prime-minister-john-key-unveiles-1-billion-housing-pitch
The Government is hoping construction on tens of thousands of new homes will be sped up with a new $1 billion infrastructure fund.

Prime Minister John Key said the fund would provide interest free loans to councils in high demand housing areas to fund the new roads and other infrastructure needed to support new housing developments.

” The Government will borrow the $1 billion required, and councils will have to repay the money within 10 years from rates and developers contributions.”

I think they call it chutzpah.

the sad thing about you willfully dumb guys is, there is ample record out there to show you off as the do nothing dudes that you are.

Your Party, the NO Mates Party, did nothing. did see nothing. did nothing.

NOTHING, Nada, Zilch, NIX, mind they did build a sheep breeding station in the desert of Saudi Arabia. I guess that counts as doing something. 🙂

                  • gsays

                    You’re on fire Sabine.
                    Excellent.

“” The number of Housing New Zealand dwellings built each year in Auckland has increased from 37 in the 2013 financial year to 182 in the 2017 financial year.

Do you realise just how stupid you are when you wrote this statement?
You did see the bit that says ” built each year”.
Are you really so silly that you don’t understand what that means?

                    • Sabine

                      my bad.
                      i stand corrected.

                      in saying that
                      4 years

                      build 145 per year = 580 houses
                      demolished = 300
net build in 4 years = 280 houses or 70 houses per year,

and you guys want to complain about the current government.

                      https://www.newsroom.co.nz/2019/01/24/413522/government-builds-273-of-1600-houses\

“January 29: The original version of this article gave a misleading impression about the Government’s progress on its target of building 1600 state and social houses each year.

While the number of state houses built as provided in story was accurate (273 out of 1000), it did not include the equivalent number of houses built by community housing providers.

Figures provided by the Housing Minister’s office show that 588 community housing places have been delivered so far, meaning 867 of the 1600 state and social houses have been built as of halfway through the financial year.

We are placing this clarification above the original article to make clear the most accurate figures. We have also amended the headline and excerpt for the story.”

so in two years the current government build as many houses as the NO Mates Party did in 4 years, plus 588 community housing places have been delivered. So as per the correction above, 867 dwellings/houses/apartments/units have been created.

Your party did nothing but demolish state assets to sell of to the highest private bidder selling houses for million dollars on hte private market while not giving a flying fuck about the people in this country that need access to social housing.
And you can go about insulting me as much as you want, all day long honeybum, it is still true that your Party did nothing, Zilch, Nada, Niente, other then enrich themselves.

bye now honey. Go get a snickers. you need it.

                  • left_forward

                    Very good Sabine.
                    You got it.

            • Cinny 3.1.1.2.2.4

He hasn’t fucked up our private rental market. Look after your tenants and they’ll look after your investment. IE don’t rip them off and most of the time they won’t trash your rental.

When people don’t feel valued, that’s when things can go wrong. Call it being considerate.

But when greed kicks in well… hello Air BnB lets take advantage of that instead.

Sabine is completely correct re Air BnB, it’s a major issue. And another legal loop hole that needs to be closed.

As the digital world changes and develops we need to make sure NZ laws keep up to date, or we’ll just get exploited by loop hole cowboys.

national is infested with loop hole cowboys.

PS We’ve a rental portfolio and are happy to pay a CGT.

          • Muttonbird 3.1.1.2.3

            This.

The disruptive technology of airbnb is primarily to blame for the reduction in available medium and long term rentals available to young families.

You see rental owners crowing about it all the time which betrays the claim that they are somehow good citizens providing for those less fortunate.

Further eroding this claim is the fact they squeal like stuck pigs when it is asked of them to provide something as simple as a warm and dry house for tenants who pay most of their wages in rent.

        • Psycho Milt 3.1.1.3

What did he think was going to happen if the government jumped up and down on Landlords with jackboots?

And the evidence that government measures to reduce shit behaviour by landlords has caused this increase in the state house waiting list is?

        • millsy 3.1.1.4

Most of those people on the housing wait list wouldn’t have been able to get a private sector rental anyway.

You have to remember that this all blew up under National, when they sold houses and purged the waiting list. Landlords could do what they like back then.

Touble is, when you let landlords do what they like, they put rents up by 100%-200% and they kick tenants out on a whim.

      Precisely, Macro.

For my sins I listened to some of the debate on the Prime Minister’s statement after question time in the House.

What struck me was the total lack of realisation from the nats that the problems the Coalition is dealing with were of their (the nats) making.

It’s as if a door has closed on their collective memories – or to echo George Orwell, before 2017 good, after 2017 bad.

personally, my objection to the chocolate thing is that it’s just another marketing ploy shipped over from the USA, like halloween. And before some pedant points out the English tradition: pumpkin “jack o’ lanterns”

        • marty mars 5.4.1.1

Yep that whole gender review party stuff is downright weird and odd imo. Not so good to sell chocy I would have thought but obviously someone thought different.

          • Sabine 5.4.1.1.1

it is a marketing gag to support Plunket.

for what its worth, the day expecting parents can see on a ultrasound the sexual attributes of the child – is the day they can plan to buy boy or girls stuff.
They still have to birth the child to a. discover anything like intersex or b. the child still had to grow up a bit to actually be able to prefer a gender or a way of being called. So this whole outrage on either side is just idiocy.

it is a marketing gag. i would rather worry about the food coloring added to white chocolate to make it pink or blue.

And in saying that there exist a true pink colored chocolate, and she is yummi

    ‘Murica.

Goodloe Sutton — who is the publisher of the Democrat-Reporter newspaper in Linden, Alabama — confirmed to the Montgomery Advertiser on Monday that he authored the Feb. 14 editorial calling for the return of a white supremacist hate group.

“If we could get the Klan to go up there and clean out D.C., we’d all been better off,” Sutton said.

Asked to elaborate what he meant by “cleaning up D.C.,” Sutton suggested lynching.

“We’ll get the hemp ropes out, loop them over a tall limb and hang all of them,” Sutton said.

When asked if he felt it was appropriate for the publisher of a newspaper to call for the lynching of Americans, Sutton doubled down on his position.

“… It’s not calling for the lynchings of Americans. These are socialist-communists we’re talking about. Do you know what socialism and communism is?” Sutton said.

In the newspaper editorial, Sutton wrote:

Democrats in the Republican Party and Democrats are plotting to raise taxes in Alabama. They do not understand how to eliminate expenses when money is needed in other areas. This socialist-communist ideology sounds good to the ignorant, the uneducated, and the simple-minded people.

All I can say is WTF and we need to bring back the Mines Dept as a stand alone Government Dept like any modern Western style Government has like Oz, GB, EU and Canada.

This shit has gone to far as we are forgetting the past IRT Mines Accidents and it needs to end now along with all the other that has happened since 1984! As every Government Dept has been ran in the ground and that’s before we start looking wagers, living and employment standards compared to similar countries including *Australia in size, population and economic wealth.

But how to 30 odd years of the BS Neo Con/ Lib economic theory, but how do it without the pain that happened in the mid 80’s to the 90’s is the question?

I’ve included Australia, as most expat moved there during the mid 80’s and now. Also they have CCT, compulsory Super, award rates with a strong Union base, a healthy infrastructure building plan that is slowly kicking goals etc etc.
