Weekend social is for non political chat. What’s on for the weekend, gigs, film or book reviews, sports, or whatever.

No politics, no aggro, why can’t we all just get along?

I was thinking of buying a brand spanking new Ferrari F430, but what is so cool is that I will be able to go to the finance coy and tell them I intend to pay for this out of unkown savings I am about to make.!!!!
Otherwise weather is good for Sat morning sport, start to read Metamorphoses and see Fast and Furious 5( I did not get to use the casting vote on that one 🙁 !!!)
Also read the papers and wonder why the budget got so much institutional support then continue to read more myths and legend stuff !!

        *sigh*

this is what rickrolling has been reduced to.

      • Maynard J 3.1.2

I specifically came to this thread, to find someone who had linked to Friday, just so I could give them a negative vote.

But while we’re at it, look out for the death metal version, it’s far more vocally pleasing.

  4. We watched Water for Elephants at the Lido Cinema Hamilton .Good story good acting 3 1/2 stars.

This Saturday Waikato Symphony Orchestra playing in Hamilton should be worth a visit.
As mentioned previously keep an eye open for The Hamilton Brass Quintet
well worth a listen if they come your way,

  5. Lanthanide 5

Yay! Like the thumbs up and thumbs down Lynn, thanks!

Although probably we didn’t need thumbs down as much – could potentially lead to issues or making us look like a hive-mind (see kiwibog).

    • frog 5.1

It usually works okay at frogblog.

Occasionally the RWNJs try to game it by repeatedly changing IP addresses, but it is pretty obvious what they are doing and they get called out on it.

I hope this doesn’t derogate from the non-political nature of this thread.

So to change tack, go the Warriors v the Rabbitohs on Sunday.

      • todd 5.1.1

As frog mentioned, there’s a way to trick it. If you’re like me and turn off your broadband each night, you get assigned a new IP address and can vote again the next day. Please be assured frog, my multiple personalities don’t often get the better of me in this respect 🙂

Perhaps the reason frogblog gets a number of irregularities with the feature is those programs that can change the IP address, which seems to especially happen when Green MPs comment. Worked pretty well the other day to hide Shundas comments though, not that I would necessarily put him into the RWNJ basket.

I started building a WordPress site the other day, but then blogger.com sorted itself out so I just went back to that template. Such server based crashes certainly make “cloud computing” look like a sick joke! I like the flexibility of WordPress… much like working with a normal editor. When are you guys going to add me to your blog roles btw? And Mr Standard sir, would you like me to directly post ‘The Week that Was’ into the contribute a post feature?

Picking the Warriors to win this one, although their track record hasn’t been great of late.

    • lprent 5.2

I’ll have a look at this during the weekend. This version has the hider and no way to turn it off.
And there should be some better coding (it is very sloppy)
But I will preserve the ticks if I change it.

  6. Armchair Critic 6

Trim 50 metres of photinia hedge into a nice shape, burn the cuttings and re-home the wildlife.
Also, thin the onions, radishes and carrots.
Plan for pruning roses next weekend

  7. georgecom 7

I wonder if this joker is still in the forecasting business?

    From May 20, 2010.

Finance Minister Bill English has come up with a tax package “that almost looks like white rabbits out of the hat”, New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants Institute tax director Craig Macalister says. It had not seemed possible to produce a tax package to please everyone, but Mr English came close, and may have reignited the economy in the process, Mr Macalister said.

“A lot of people will be quite happy with it. We might see a bit of confidence return to the economy.”

    .

I wonder if Mr Macalister is tipping this budget to be a success.

The “Rise up Chch” Telethon on Maori TV. Good on them.

Maori TV in general if it comes to that. By far the best channel.
