The Japanese are slaughtering whales again

Written By: - Date published: 1:24 pm, January 7th, 2014 - 24 comments

Three years ago John Key promised sort of that he could by diplomatic means stop the Japanese hunting of whales in the Southern Ocean.  Given recent events it appears that his confidence was misplaced.  Because the Japanese are slaughtering whales again in our back yard.

GCSB: They do listen

Written By: - Date published: 5:40 am, January 4th, 2014 - 36 comments

It has been a surprise at just how far the revelations about the GCSB governance have made into the collective conciousness of NZ. Bearing in mind the continuing outpouring from Snowden and other whistleblowers about the US and their allies surveillance efforts on citizens and friendly states, it isn’t going to be a surprise if this winds up being an issue in the election.

Celebrity golf!  Which one will get voted off the island first!?  Meanwhile the world burns, the poor struggle, and the wealth gap continues to be a blight on our country.

John Key’s great idea for job creation – his cycleway project – has produced some benefits, but is a patchwork production.  Some sections will be user pays to fund maintenance.  Meanwhile the job creation benefits have been limited.

NRT: John Key lied to our faces

Written By: - Date published: 9:15 am, December 23rd, 2013 - 36 comments

No Right Turn is annoyed at having a deliberate liar for a Prime Minister. Who wouldn’t be pissed off with the incompetent lying slimeball. It turns out that John Key lied to our faces when he said that no decision had been made on when his government would sell Air New Zealand

Not the brighter future….

Articles in the Sunday papers online, showing John Key’s “brighter future” is only for the well off, while more people than ever are struggling to get by.

Wally of the Year

Written By: - Date published: 7:37 am, December 22nd, 2013 - 12 comments

The Fairfax Political Team has released their annual list of prizes for some of the most and least deserving efforts in politics this year.  There was intense competition for Wally of the Year and somehow they did not think that John Banks deserved this award.  But I am not so sure …

First the Hone bash, then the royals

Written By: - Date published: 10:37 am, December 20th, 2013 - 116 comments

It’s looking like Team John Key is trying every PR spin trick in the book to gain an advantage for the election next year.  Does he have anything to offer Kiwis other than bash, spin and photos ops? And McGehan Close?  The underclass?

The spirit of ’81: Key’s hypocrisy!

Written By: - Date published: 3:17 pm, December 19th, 2013 - 141 comments

John Key’s attacks on Hone Harawira for his trip to South Africa were hypocritical: an attempt to smear a significant political opponent, and divert from the governments failings & its gradual falling out of favour with many (potential) voters.

NRT: Who’s scaremongering now?

Written By: - Date published: 8:45 am, December 17th, 2013 - 193 comments

On their usual friday bad news dump (such a large amount of it these days), the National government dropped this clanger. Greenpeace was right and John Key is a moron when it comes to geology and evidently about risk assessment. We held it over to get past the National’s Monday morning bad news clutter.

Chorus insider trading?

Written By: - Date published: 8:40 am, December 17th, 2013 - 35 comments

The Government appears to be softening us up for a financial contribution to Chorus in the realm of $250 million so that it can do what it has a contractual obligation to do anyway.  And TUANZ thinks that some insider trading is going on with Chorus’s shares.

Herald poll has Labour at 40% because of asset sales

Written By: - Date published: 9:09 am, December 15th, 2013 - 138 comments

A Herald poll this morning has Labour on 40% with many expressing concern with the asset sales programme.  And John Key displays a disturbing lack of numeracy literacy.

Turning around the books

Written By: - Date published: 5:44 pm, December 13th, 2013 - 23 comments

So according to John Key, turnout in the referendum is so low it doesn’t mean anything to him (despite his government working hard to get turnout down).  But he reckons it does mean David Cunliffe needs to promise to buy back the assets..?

The Pike River deal of the century

Written By: - Date published: 10:08 am, December 13th, 2013 - 57 comments

A month ago John Key was embarrassed in the House by David Cunliffe over the failure of the Government to contribute to the compensation of $3.41 million ordered by Judge Farrish to be paid to the Pike River families.  Yesterday’s deal saw this amount being paid and the charges against Peter Whittall being withdrawn.  An embarrassing political issue was shut down by a decision not to continue with a prosecution.  Are you concerned?

Cameron Slater: So who pays who?

Written By: - Date published: 4:19 pm, December 12th, 2013 - 203 comments

Looks like John Key’s communications boss Jason Ede has been busted supplying material for the most disgusting site in local politics – Whaleoil. It has long been suspected that he supplies material and possibly even writes for that site as part National’s dirty tricks team. Looks like we have some confirmation. So how much is the taxpayer paying for this public servant to blog and does he do it for his job? How much does Cameron Slater “demand” from the taxpayer to provide this service?

Fresh from his comedy career on Letterman, his rolling over puppy imitation for Warner Brothers, and other such high profile appearances. John Key has now taken to reprising the role of “The Man with No Name”. Milly the kitten is better known..

A tale of two taxpayers

Written By: - Date published: 2:19 pm, December 5th, 2013 - 50 comments

In news this week a Putaruru woman walked 25 kilometers to attend a compulsory WINZ meeting despite there being no jobs available and the Government signalled that it was going to help Chorus with costs overruns despite Chorus having a contractual obligation to roll out the fibre optic network.  On Planet Key beneficiaries are obviously expected to comply with their requirements no matter what but rich corporations will be given a helping hand when times get tough.

Census 2013: increase in inequality

Written By: - Date published: 9:15 am, December 4th, 2013 - 26 comments

NZ Census 2013 shows a widening income gap: rises for the haves; more struggle for the have nots.  Gains for women in education and some in the highest income brackets; more struggle for those on low incomes, especially beneficiaries impacted by Bennett’s punitive welfare reforms. Welcome to Key’s “Brighter Future”.

Banks to go to trial: confirmed

Written By: - Date published: 5:57 pm, December 3rd, 2013 - 117 comments

John Banks will stand trial over an alleged fraudulent electoral return.  Meanwhile Key, running out of untainted friends, is looking to re-instate the, now vindicated, Peter Dunne.  Bit John Key’s role in the inquiry into information leaked to Andrea Vance is looking dodgy. John Key is Rob Muldoon’s doppelganger

Written By: - Date published: 8:07 am, November 30th, 2013 - 64 comments

John Key is increasingly displaying that Rob Muldoon characteristic of denigrating anyone who has the temerity to oppose him.  Key’s latest claim that people who opposed off shore drilling are just “rent a crowd” sorts is a classic Muldoonism.

Key and English – best of friends.

Written By: - Date published: 3:30 pm, November 25th, 2013 - 34 comments

In a surprising development, John Key has taken to bringing “a friend” with him to serious media interviews. Key was accompanied by Bill English. Key justified the new approach stating that their unique “chemistry was obvious to all in parliament” and he wanted the public to know, just how well they got on. When questioned whether this was relevant and important in the lives of ordinary Kiwis he said “…frankly its one of the key platforms we will be contesting the 2014 election on”.

The Christchurch East by election

Written By: - Date published: 7:25 am, November 25th, 2013 - 45 comments

This Saturday the voters of Christchurch East vote for their next MP.  Labour’s hopes are pinned on Poto Williams.  But even though the seat has been Labour’s for a considerable period of time anything is possible.  And turnout will be vital.

Coat-tail of Many Colours

Te Reo Putake speculates on exactly what plan that National and John Key have to distort the MMP review and Iain Lee Galloway’s private members bill so that it allows them to stay in power. Most probably by gifting Crazy Colin and the Conservatives with several chances to get several partners into parliament while discarding the husks of their former coalition partners.

Key refuses to pay compensation for Pike River

Written By: - Date published: 6:53 am, November 16th, 2013 - 120 comments

John Key this week ruled out any Government contribution to compensation ordered to be paid by Pike River to the deceased miners’ families despite a strong suggestion by Judge Farrish that this should occur.  Now that the photo opportunities have finished and the effect of the corporate PR spin has worn off the Government’s handling of the issue appears to be deeply cynical and totally unjust.

Stories of Harassment and Sexual Violence Go Live On Web

Looks like some of my friends are getting serious about making sure that dickheads around like the duo of JT and Willie,  prevaricators like John Key  and the incredibly slack police response get a better idea about what is at stake…

Colin Craig and the Conservative Tea Party are National’s best chance

Written By: - Date published: 8:08 am, November 14th, 2013 - 109 comments

The possibility of a National Conservative coalition was raised this week by John Key.  It appears that everything may be on the table as National seeks to retain power. So will child bashing again be allowed and what would happen to New Zealand’s climate change policies?  The prospects are rather terrifying.

The server will be getting hardware changes this evening starting at 10pm NZDT.
