The current rise of populism challenges the way we think about people’s relationship to the economy. We seem to be entering an era of populism, in which leadership in a democracy is based on preferences of the population which do not seem entirely rational nor serving their longer interests. ...

The site will be off line for some hours.
Trump – America’s “blue collar billionaire” eight years after we got out version – David Cameron promises that “Britain is on the verge of something special” about six months after John Key says the exact line. Both Trump and Cameron promise “a brighter future” as a key message for their respective campaigns. Back in the 1980s our political monetarism followed the lead of Reagan and Thatcher. This time round we seem to be the world leaders.
Nice. His country needs him to come out of retirement just until the election.
But would Trump Republicans watch/listen to the Late Show Desk?
It’s not for them.
Yep it is for the headdesk hitting people going ,” wtf” they need a laugh and hope that not everyone is subsumed.
Thanks weka
It is unfortunate that Trevor Noah can’t aspire to the same lofty heights as Stewart.
Do we know anyone around here who can manage their own total contradictions with equanamity? Like this morning re Chinese retaliations?

What are you referring to ian (in the video)?
The dressing and the can horn, was roaring with laughter. TY weka
What I learned: it’s ok to mock fat people if they’re right wing.
Then you needed to pay more attention, ‘cos there was a heck of a lot more than that to be learned.
I think “Lumpy” was a mocking nickname, but it was more about the guy’s face than his weight (he didn’t look all that fat to me); in particular, the contortions when it was distorted by vitriol. It was also about being awkward and saying things that didn’t fit.
Anyway, I thought it was a great clip; it really highlighted some of the contradictions and ridiculous extremes of the “Trump as the new broom” view that is being pushed so hard at the moment.
Thanks, weka.
But that wasn’t anything to learn; everyone knows that FOX will embrace and level of hypocrisy to support the Republican party, just like CNN will in support of the Dems.
Also, I was referring to the guy being mocked before Stewart came on; Lumpy is pretty nice considering the things you could call Sean Hannity, without even needing to cover any of his physical attributes. The man is ugly enough on the inside.
