Is $175 an hour to hire a clown a good deal?
Because you and I might think we are paying $350,000 a year plus expenses for a Prime Minister but it seems not.
Key spending his time opening a pizza place in China reminds me of that time in the Simpsons when Krusty the Clown opened a clown college for look-a-likes to do “kids’ parties, swap meets, and all the other piddling crap I wouldn’t touch with a ten foot clown pole.”

Now I’m not John Key’s biggest fan, but tell the full story guys-a pizza shop in Beijing being owned and operated by a NEW ZEALANDER. Such a venture would’ve been unimaginable 20 years ago, and the opening of this store is quite symbolic of the changes Sino-Kiwi trade relations have made, and will continue to make given the FTA.
Dead right about the changes in China, Shazzadude, it’s quite remarkable how the former communists have embraced capitalism, but this business has nothing to do with the FTA. No trade involved at all. In fact, there is no economic benefit to NZ from this business at all that I can see and I’m still wondering why Key felt it was worth his time to attend. Other than it being a cutesy photo op, of course.
