How about you go fuck yourself?
This is a terrible idea, as if there is a large jump in census numbers of Muslims it will play into exactly the sort of bigotry Prosser espouses. A huge part of anti Muslim xenophobia is the idea that they will somehow demographically swamp Judeo Christian...
Fantastic film, really shows the grind that campaigning can do. In the end I actually felt sorry for the old bugger McCain, though he still chose her, so not that sorry.
Make of this what you will, apparently a Kaiapoi Labourer had to train prisoners who took his job after he was laid off: http://www.stuff.co.nz/business/rebuilding-christchurch/8376234/Labourers-lose-jobs-to-prisoners
He would make a good electorate MP, though might not be able to beat whichever stuffed shirt the Nats put up simply because he is a Green.
Rather, just another poll full stop. Bouncing around within the margin of error is pretty meaningless, but it is hard to see a positive trend.
I find it incredibly hard to care about reshuffles generally, though I would just like to ask one pertinent question. Have any frontbenchers been matched with portfolios that reflect their careers before they entered parliament? If not, why not?
Are we sure that Chauvel was actually that valuable? The biggest story I can remember him being involved with was him shouting at a child on a plane.
The campaign has had a budget of 50k. Yeah, thats about 400 times less than what has been spent trying to sell them.
Not a very substantive comment, but is anyone else sick of that stock photo of Shearer against the Green background? Something about it rings very hollow. Then again, I suppose its not like he can really claim to be a red.
True, thank you for correcting that.
I eagerly await his next column, "I'm a selfish cunt and I contribute nothing to the world"
Its hard to take your legacy arguments about Key seriously when you say that only PMs who have been from Labour have a worthwhile legacy. Is that really how the 'general population' remembers it? Also, I really think it is time that the left reassessed ...
Shane Jones? Lord have mercy.
I'm not surprised you know very little about the Canadian protests, they have been completely unreported in New Zealand. Don't want our lot getting any ideas, after all. (I include myself in knowing very little about them too.)
Why would they bother running a candidate when the waterfront debacle showed they can just co-opt Len Brown into being their stooge?
Bollocks TPP, why should a membership base that has been shafted by their caucus sit around silently?
I actually like the idea of more investment in forestry, and then processing the wood on shore rather than shipping off raw logs. This idea certainly beats the hell out of deep sea drilling.
Financial transaction tax.
I think the most interesting thing about TS is that it doesn't really toe any party line, therefore this is a place where genuine debate can happen. Authors, please keep up the good work, especially the newer posters QOT and Karol.
Yes, the phrase climate change doesn't appear, but he talks repeatedly about environmental degradation, the need to avoid growth based on wanton resource exploitation and how our environment is crucial to our global brand. In short, this is still a very ...
If you care about science and reason trumping blind ideology, get over to Kiwiblog and stick up for Dr Mike Joy, who is currently a messenger with a lot of bullet holes in him.
I think I should grow a beard.
Well they managed to push a National government into acting on home insulation, especially in low income houses. Yes, thats right, thanks to pressure from the Greens a National government did something for poor people. That is a pretty fantastic ...
And a good system it is too. Members are enfranchised and have a real say, but its also efficient and manageable on the Conference floor.
Also nice one Ben for putting something up about this. If anyone needs evidence that Labour and the Greens can work together, the Keep Our Assets petition is the perfect example.
Not until about Feb next year, and given that the count is now over 300,000, I think we will make it. The point of this exercise is to overshoot the required number, just in case some signatures are double ups, not filled out correctly, wrong address on ...
Try to think of the internally democratic nature or otherwise of parties as a continuum, Labour has still not reached where the Greens are at, but they are a hell of a lot more internally democratic after these reforms than, say, National.
If the Labour caucus screws this up there will be a huge exodus of members towards other parties, most likely the Greens who are much more internally democratic, but also potentially to Mana and NZ1st. That has got to worry even the most self-serving of ...
Time to show some bravery Labour, or at the very least some self interest. If they don't get Shearer and (more to the point) his advice team cleaned out soon they will be wiped out.
...I got better.
