Thanks Anker, I have huge respect (and am in awe of) the courage of you, Weka, Molly and others who are fighting to protect the hard earned rights enjoyed by much loved and valued members of my family.
A perspective from a gay conservative man….. as I have little skin in this issue, I’ll just leave it here. https://andrewsullivan.substack.com/p/the-queers-versus-the-homosexuals-cfd
Unfortunately the NZ media will not give the true situation. Time, then, to look at reputable overseas reporting….. https://www.theguardian.com/world/datablog/ng-interactive/2023/apr/19/food-costs-soar-in-new-zealand-see-how-prices-have-changed-with-this-...
I find it depressing that sections of the population think Roe v Wade is about banning abortion and even worse, it applies to New Zealand. New Zealand already has the most liberal abortion regime in the world, voted in overwhelmingly with bi partisan ...
It's called "field testing" and remarkably successfully too. Orders from observing countries will be flooding in.
Can the combination of the new water quality regulator, water pricing regulator, and new water management entity reverse all of that in Canterbury? Probably not – until there is an agricultural industry that is even more profitable than dairy. Probably, ...
Ngai Tahu are one of (if not) the biggest owners of dairy farms in Canterbury. If any other sector were given 2 seats on ECAN it would be called a Conflict of Interest.
If Bomber is correct in his view as to the reasons behind this upsurge in gun violence between gangs, then that points to a level of criminality and corruption that indicates a much larger breakdown in policing than anyone previously thought. https://...
I think that blaming dairying for Canterbury’s high nitrate levels (in places) is deceptive. Obviously high synthetic nitrates will have an effect but high groundwater nitrate areas do not always correlate with high intensity dairy locations. The issue is ...

Thanks Drowsey, Funny how it affects people differently. After 14 days I still have a cough and feel tired a lot. My wife has been fine for 6 days now and my granddaughter only had a headache for 3 days and tested negative on day 5!
I think Andy is right. My wife (74) has 3 vaccinations plus a booster and caught Covid last Monday. I, (71) with 2 vaxes plus booster caught it from her Thursday. Our granddaughter living with us (19) 2 vaxxes plus booster caught it Friday. We are all ...
Could it be as simple as Russia finding their weapons and forces are not very good. If that failure rate and incompetence extends to a nuclear strike it will be all downhill for them,
Well, that filled in some of the afternoon.
Many electricity networks also "suck" but no impetus to nationalise them - which IMHO would be a Very Good Idea.
.....so hardly "completely endorse it" then?
See Poission's comment re. Scottish Water at 1. Is that what we want?
The Engineering part is fine, nobody is arguing that (except maybe the compulsory chlorination) but the political side ......Engineering NZ will steer well clear of that! Don't think the Scottish experience is the one to follow.......
Engineering NZ do not endorse 3 Waters. They emphasise a stronger Regulatory framework, Smart Metering to enable charging and universal chlorination. In short, basic engineering stuff without the politics.
Looks like Engineering NZ are heading the same way as the Royal Society.
….damned with faint praise…..
These videos are authentic. Ukraine has a big problem, they invited the ICC in to observe Russian atrocities but it appears the ICC are now investigating Ukrainian ones. Interesting how native Russian speaking Ukrainian soldiers can do this to fellow ...
"..This damage looks similar to what would be achieved with a nuke.." My father served in J Force at the end of WWII. He was an engineer stationed at Nagasaki. He had a camera. Have you even seen photos of the aftermath of a nuke?
"Zelensky's anti corruption drive", yeah right.......https://www.theguardian.com/news/2021/oct/03/revealed-anti-oligarch-ukrainian-president-offshore-connections-volodymyr-zelenskiy
While you are at it, this is a good read. If you have a philosophical aversion to the site, look at the links including NYT and Huffpost...... https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2019/10/summary-thread-obamas-vice-president-biden-and-secretary-of-state-kerrys...
My sources say that Stinger and Javelin missiles are what is making the difference. That is why Russian tanks don’t want to move and Russian air power is attacking soft targets. Russia will lose this and are finished as a superpower. US and NATO have ...
I suspect you are correct. There is no way Putin can win. However there is now little possibility that Crimea and Donbass can go back to co-existing in Ukraine.
Yes, Iraq, Syria, etc. etc.....but for all their practice they had not been able to develop the precision bombing and bombardment that enables them to destroy a hospital and only kill 3 people!
Of course they are......war these days is as much about propaganda messaging as anything. So, the NYT is upset about Putin cracking down on "false information"? This is the same news organisation railing about the widespread "mis" and "dis" information in ...
All my Russian friends are Engineers, either Electrical or Nuclear. They are very fluent English speakers and get information from a huge range of sources. They are certainly not people who rely on State media - the same cannot be said for this country ...
I have many friends in both Ukraine and Russia and we communicate daily on the current war. Both sides have perfectly rational explanations as to how this all evolved, who is to blame and how it will end. My Russian friends naturally blame the US and Nato....
