Hosking hasn’t aged well

“His policies are from another age, and so extreme that when push comes to shove, when people actually have to decide who runs their country, short of the small collective of Marxists who have never quite joined the real world, Brits know full well there is only one choice.”

Tertiary education: keep it public

Written By: - Date published: 12:01 pm, June 9th, 2017 - 24 comments

Two public meetings are being held next week to shine a light on the government’s Education (Tertiary Education and Other Matters) Amendment Bill. It would allow the Minister for Tertiary Education – currently Epsom’s Paul Goldsmith – to take public funds away from universities, polytechs and wānanga and give them to private companies. It’s another […]

The Nats are under-funding the health sector to the tune of $2.3b. That’s a lot of real people not getting the care that they need.

Dirty Politics 2017 style

Written By: - Date published: 4:05 pm, June 8th, 2017 - 27 comments

Latest polls and some anecdotal evidence from the doorstep are showing a move back to the Tories in Britain. If so it may in part be due to last-minute dark and dirty personally targeted Facebook advertising to voters in marginal seats. They cost so will need to be watched later on here.

Corbyn has already won so this is a good election for UK Labour to lose

Written By: - Date published: 7:31 am, June 8th, 2017 - 114 comments

If the campaign was a month longer I have no doubt that Labour would win outright. As it is they will I think they will probably lose, and this will be a good thing for UK Labour long term.

Is Donald Trump helping Jeremy Corbyn get elected?

Written By: - Date published: 7:56 am, June 7th, 2017 - 17 comments
